I am not a bookworm but I spent almost Php 15,000.00 in the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale in Pasay City.

Let me explain.
I am not a bookworm. I do not buy books because I want to. I only buy books because I need to. Books are expensive and I’m the type that would rather buy cheap good-quality clothes than one expensive great book. Even in law school and during bar review, I rarely buy books. Last year, I bought a book because I started a read-and-finish-a-new-book challenge for the month of September with my officemates. For the challenge, I bought a Php 99.00 book entitled “1001 nights” because it was cheap and I was intrigued by the blurb (googled it just now). I did not finish it mainly because I had a hard time understanding the words, even with context clues. Having said that, you might be surprised how the hell I was able to spend Php 15,000.00 in a book sale.
I spent almost Php 15,000.00 in the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale in Pasay City. My 23 followers and a few random viewers know that I like buying cheap. Cheap does not necessarily mean low quality. Cheap can be a sale or a promo. So, when I learned about the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale, I immediately searched in pinterest books that “should be part of your book shelf”, “must be read in your lifetime”, “all girlbosses should read”, “should be part of your book club”. With several pins on my board, I went to the Big Bad Wolf with my constant companions, Divimom and Divibaby.

We went there on the first day, February 16, 2018 at around 1:00 pm. There were a lot of people but still manageable. The books were really cheap. After three hours, Divimom grabbed a lot of cookbooks, Divibaby got a lot of activity/sticker/board books, and I was able to find one book on my pinterest board. I spent almost Php 7,000.00 – Php 3,000.00 for Divimom, Php 3,000 for Divibaby, Php 770.00 for gifts, and Php 230.00 for my hardcover book.
My first book haul included:

I returned on February 18, 2018 at 6:30 am. The place was more relaxed and I took my time browsing and looking for the books on my list. However, I noticed that the books available on the first day were no longer available. Nonetheless, the staff kept on restocking the tables with new books and books that were not bought/displaced. I found the last copy of Big Magic after returning to self-help area several times. In the biographies, I found one copy of The Year of Yes. I also bought a lot of Peppa Pig books for Divibaby but the majority of my purchase was for gifts. I spent almost Php 8,000.00 – Php 2,000.00 for Divibaby, Php 5,000.00 for gifts, and Php 1,000.00 for my 4 books. Yes, Php 5,000 for gifts. I figured that I would save a lot if I buy good quality books for Php 160.00 to Php 230.00 instead of toys or clothes that average Php 500.00.
These are the books I bought for me:

Will I return here again? Definitely next year! I do not regret spending that amount knowing that I was also able to save a lot.

Alam ko na gift namin sa pasko…hahahahaha!
