Day 2, Mactan-Camotes

THE DATE: August 12, 2017

THE TRIP

06:30     LesLo and I woke up early to find Jomalia Shipping Corporation terminal in Mactan. Jomalia is the only company that offers fast craft service from Mactan to Camotes. My Cebuana officemate suggested this transit instead of taking the Danao route, which will take at least four hours. Mactan terminal  was relatively new and I could not find any website that would give us directions. We decided to look for the place early in the morning to buy tickets, return to the hotel for breakfast, checkout, then head to the terminal. From the hotel, we took a taxi to Cebu Yacht Club, our landmark. We found the terminal called Mactan Wharf. Transportation: Php 55.00

Entrance to Mactan Wharf.

There was no ticket counter but we were certain that we went to the correct place since Jomalia’s signage was posted outside the gate. Two elders were also waiting for the fast craft. They told us that the ticket counter was inside Island Central, a small mall just outside the wharf. The mall was still closed so we went back to the hotel for our free breakfast. Transportation: Php 84.00

When we returned to Mactan Wharf, there were already a number of people waiting for the ferry. We bought our tickets, which cost Php 350.00 each and waited for our boarding time. Transportation: Php 350.00 each

09:00-10:15     The trip to Camotes via Jomalia’s fast craft was pleasant. The fast craft was clean, orderly, and most importantly, it departed on time. It has an air-conditioned and a non-air-conditioned area but the fare is the same. Inside was a small food store. Several televisions were strategically placed to entertain passengers. I’ll write a separate post for my review but for now I’ll give it a 5 out of 5 rating.

The ferry docked at Consuelo Port with a travel time of 1 hour and 15 minutes.

10:20     The clear waters of Camotes welcomed us even before we stepped off the ferry. If the water of the port is this clear, then I can’t wait to see the beach!

Together with a family of Koreans, we boarded the company vehicle of Mangodlong Paradise Beach Resort.

11:00     We arrived past 11 am in the resort. Unfortunately, the resort cannot accommodate our request for an early check-in since our room was still occupied. We ate lunch in their restaurant and waited for our room to be ready. Meals: Php 230.00 for personal meal

13:30     Check-in time was 2 pm but they allowed us to go to our room earlier. LesLo was supposed to get a deluxe room but only a cabana was available in agoda for our first night. We will transfer to a deluxe room for the next two nights. Our cabana was great! It was expensive for Camotes standards but cheap for Manila standards.  I’ll write a separate post for my review but for now I’ll give them a 6 out of 5 rating. Accommodation: Php 4,011.00

19:00     We had dinner at Mangodlong Rock Resort, which was just beside our resort. The price of their food was reasonable and their serving was good for two. After dinner and before heading back to our resort, a driver approached us and offered his services as our tour guide/driver in Camotes. We agreed to a rate of Php 2,000.00 for two days that will cover all tourist spots. Payment will be given after the second day. Meals: Php 400.00

THE EXPENSES

Though I did not pay for our accommodation, I included it below for future reference.
