THE RATE: Php5,952.08 per night for a club double room with Executive Lounge Access and breakfast for two (via booking.com)

THE ADDRESS:  3001 Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City, Manila, Philippines

THE EXPERIENCE:

I wanted a staycation for my birthday last year and Hotel Jen was on top of my list. I’ve been there a few times last 2014—back when it was still named Traders Hotel—and I had access to their executive lounge then. I wanted the same experience so I booked a Club Room for me, Divimom, and Divibaby. It was a few pesos higher (around Php1,200.00) than the deluxe rooms but the executive lounge access makes up for it.

Located on the 19th floor is Hotel Jen’s club lounge called Windows by the Bay. It is exclusive to guests staying at club rooms. However, it is open to the public starting 7:30 p.m. for evening cocktails. I like that we can actually check-in/-out here instead of the ground floor lobby, which can sometimes be busy. Aside from beautiful sunset views over Manila bay and panoramic city views, the following benefits can be enjoyed at the lounge:

For my ultimate staycation, I plan not to leave the room or the hotel. I mean, that is the point right? So booking the club room was a no-brainer. With afternoon tea, sunset cocktails, and unli-drinks all day, I know I will not go hungry.. until the next day, at least.

What is inside our unit? From Hotel Jen Manila’s website: Two twin beds, En-suite bathroom with bathtub, Free WiFi, Movie channels, Satellite/cable television, International direct dialling service, Full-size executive writing desk, Computer data port, 220 VAC universal outlets, Refrigerator, Electronic safe, Tea and coffee station, Mini bar, Free mineral water, Hairdryer. Again, the room comes with free access to the Club Lounge and its perks.

Pros: Bedroom is spacious, the views are panoramic, the hotel is near a mall and walking distance to the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Philippine International Conventional Center, and Star City.

Cons: The Lounge is not open 24 hours, breakfast can be taken either in the lounge or the ground floor dining area, not both.

Windows by the Bay a.k.a. Club Lounge:

I forgot to take a picture of the lounge from the entrance angle.
Here, you can see the door on the top right-ish and the receiving area. The hotel staff will ask for your room number before you can go inside to make sure that you are a guest with a lounge access.
The right side of the reception area features lots of couches and a few dining tables near the windows.
On the left side are the dining tables and in front of them is the buffet area

Seats near the window are always occupied so go here early if you want the view

On the way to the elevators, there is a map of the area on the wall.
This is nice and helpful. Guests can also post notes.

THE VERDICT: 5/5

Will I stay here again? Yes, for a staycation. Booking a club room is worth the additional pesos. Otherwise, there are cheaper hotels in the area.
